Roommate Birthday

Our roommates birthday was on Monday. To celebrate her turning 21 (oh, I remember that year) we threw her a little dinner party on the terrace on Sunday night. It was just the four of us.

We all pitched in and made something. I did the ice cream sundea desert instead of a cake and we stuck a candle in the middle of it.

I really like my roommates. They are interesting and very social people. We get along just fine and there's no such thing as mine in our flat. If you need anything, you just take. I really lucked out.

On Monday it was her official birthday and therefore she invited 6 people to come and celebrate with her on the terrace. About 20 people showed up. Again, we all had to bring a little something - like a potluck, but no one knows that term except Mary Anne - my American roommate.

Claire - the birthday girl is from France and Andre is from Germany. They were both studying here, while Mary Anne teaches English.

The party went on for a very long time and I only managed to be social for about an hour of it. I was exhausted after my second day at work. I was even asked to stay later and take the 7:15 bus back to Tuksim. That's the last bus, after that I'm stranded by the airport and with public transit, it would take me 2 hours to get home.

The stories the following day were quite something and I really regret not being more social, but what can you do if you're exhausted beyond recognition because all you do is copy edit all day.
