Festival
May 26th was not only Mother's Day, but also a festival in Bukowa. I had to return because Ola really wanted to go to the evening dance and with me there, her parents would let her stay much longer.
The day began with a half-marathon. My cousin ran 400m and he came in second place! He was so excited about his medal. Of course, Ola wanted to get to the stadium as soon as possible to scope out the boy situation. Like I was going to find 16-year-olds attractive.
I ended up babysitting both of them. It was either holding Mateusza's drink or Ola's jacket or a balloon or anything else. I did run into some old friends who oddly looked at me when I told them I have no plans of getting married. And they already have three kids. So what that I don't want to get married and have kids. I'm happy with my life.
The day was a success and later on in the night my uncle came and we had a beer. Then getting Ola off the dance floor was rather hard. I already got her curfew extended, so I tried to procrastinate with the leaving. It just so happened that my uncle knew the keyboardist from the band that played. He would go "mushroom picking" with him when they were kids. (That's what they called it in those days). I found out his name and I yelled! My uncle looked like he didn't know me. Either way, he approached and my uncle asked if he remembered my mother! He knew my mother.
I asked if I could meet the band - actually just one member of the band - the drummer, so he got me to come backstage and meet them. The vocalist started chatting me up. NO! I wanted the drummer.
All night I had the urge of lying in the middle of the field and looking up at the sky. It was so lovely and warm that I didn't want to leave. Unfortunately, my friends didn't show up for the festivities so I had no one to stay with and dancing with 16-year-olds to Polish music isn't my ideal way of spending Saturday night.
