London - Day 2
I almost missed my train this morning because I woke up late. It was my fault. I forgot that my European cell phone works on a 24 hour clock. I should have realized that when I woke up in the middle of the night and it said 13:45 on it. That means 1:45 p.m.! Should have changed it at that moment. So, I woke up it was almost 8 a.m.
Tried to take a shower and only cold water was flowing. There was a bit of warm water in the tap, but the shower was freezing cold. I washed my hair in cold water. I think I may have to shower at the train station. I will have to shower sometime soon.
I ran out of my place as quickly as I could and made it to the train station at 9:21 a.m. The train was to depart at 9:30. It was late 2 minutes. Nothing is ever late here. At 9:25 there was an announcement that the train is late and will be in the station at 9:27. Wow. If that's late, then I don't know the meaning of the word late.
I got it just in time and off to Bristol it was. Beautiful south-eastern country side. Rolling hills. Rivers. Old buildings. Cottages. Some towns have lovely gothic Cathedrals. One town had five.
I get into Bristol and was picked up by one of the doctors I was interviewing and we were off to Toulen. No pictures or seeing Bristol.
When we arrive at the small town, we go to the hospital and meet the other doctor. He was on-call this weekend and we pretty much stayed at his accommodations, which was a house adjoining the hospital. Beautiful hospital accommodations. Should have stayed the night there. At least I would have showered.
We had homemade pizza and we talked all afternoon. I have tons of material for my thesis on just this one profession from the private doctor and the public doctor. Check and check.
I left on an evening train and didn't get to see anything. No pictures of these towns.
This is truly not a sightseeing trip. It's only work and no play.
Tomorrow I shall visit the Polish neighbourhood and interview a girl that works in the travel industry. One of the largest populated industries with Polish workers in London.
I will be downtown and I must take some photos. Even though last time I was in London I took only 300.
Still trying to get adjusted to the time difference. It isn't going to be easy. I was falling asleep in the afternoon and now I'm wide awake.
I'm going to try to shower tonight. Maybe the hot water pressure is better at night.
I have no idea. But, if worse comes to worse, showering at the train station in the next couple of days. I need to.
