Turning 25

It's a new beginning for everything. New Year, for one and I'm turning 25 after much denial. And the best part, after many complaints of not updating this blog (you know who you are) I've decided this will be a new beginning for that as well.

First, let's update what's been happening. A lot.

I'm in a relationship - a very happy one. I've met a really great guy who has aspirations, treats me with respect and is always there for me when I need a friend the most.

I'm working for the devil himself. Yes, I got a job. I'm helping design online courses for the continuing education and I haven't done a thing right according to my bosses from the moment I started. I dread going in and screwing up. I don't show initiative. I don't ask questions. I don't check my work email from home. I don't communicate. I don't do a lot of things. It's hard, but it is an extra income. It does come in handy especially since I've had all those issues with my SSHRC scholarship.

I'm headed to London on January 10th till the 19th. Not for pleasure, but for work. I've been busy trying to schedule interviews. All of this for research for my thesis. In the process, I'm making a lot of contacts. My research is positively received and I'm being asked by many people if my results can be used in research that the people I'm contacting are also conducting themselves. It's fascinating what is happening and with the large influx of Polish workers in the UK, who knows when this will all end. Studying and researching my theory of circular and temporary migration is also a social study of people and I cannot wait to talk to everyone in London and ask them why they choose Europe and not countries across the Atlantic. There are very good reasons for that, but these reasons have a huge implication for countries that are dependent on immigrants.

As for deciding what I will do with work in April, I really have no idea. I'm 80% certain I want to take the job in Poland. I also want to stay here. I am confused and I will know once I start looking for jobs in Canada. I still haven't done that.

And tonight, I'm doing things my way. Thanks to Trevor (the boyfriend), I've decided that I should make my birthday about me. No one else. So, we are going to an Industrial party that I've wanted to go to for over a year now!

Today, I will celebrate 24.9 and on Monday I am going to be a proud 25. 2007 wasn't a great year and why hold on to that? (Great piece of advice). Taking the bull by the horns and making 2008 a great one. I can feel it in my bones.
