New Things

Here's what's been shaking with me in the last little while.

News assignment
Working on a news story that involves an organization in Vancouver as part of an assignment. It started off in panic because I had no topic, but once I thought long and hard, it all came together. And now the interviews need to come together. I'm waiting for two phone calls and tomorrow is my last day to actually get them. It's after all Thanksgiving long weekend.

SSHRC
Got a response to my SSHRC application from the J school faculty. There weren't many comments and I just have a couple of changes to make. I think that's a good sign. I hope it makes it past the grad student society and onto the Can. government. Could really use the funding for next year. If you are interested in knowing about my thesis proposal, just ask. Let's just say I came up with the idea in two days and did research in a couple of hours and this whole application came together in less than a week. *breathes*

Office keys
It only took me a month to pick up my office keys and make use of my office space. So lucky no one else was using the room at the moment. I do have to share it, but no one really uses it. Why? There's a $20 deposit for the keys (non refundable) and if you can use the newsroom, then why bother with an office. I wonder how many times I'll actually use it. Today was once.

Back
If it wasn't for the pain killers I was given, I would still be crying out in pain. I still feel pain with the pain killers, but it is getting better.

Deck chairs
I used my patio for the first time today. I took off the cover from the deck chairs and talked on the phone with Laurel. We kept getting disconnected in my apartment. Sometimes my phone has good days and others not so much.

Telus
Got a $144 cell phone bill today. That's the most I've ever had to pay! Something must be wrong here. But, then again it took me a couple of days to switch my phone number and I was using it for long distance. Yikes.

Starving student
Getting closer to understanding this concept of the "starving student". Let's do some math:
Cell phone bill + Amex bill + Visa bill = Anna the starving student.

Jobs
I've applied to a couple of jobs/internships. Keep your fingers crossed that I get responses soon. I am starting to feel bored. I need more excitement and probably a job to pay off the above mentioned bills. The more we do online work in class, the more I miss my old job. I really did like coding. It was fun.

That's all for now. I also posted photos of the campus on Flickr and I will post more as I go along. The leaves are beginning to turn colour. It is Autumn.
