Spilled Beer

And it wasn't even me! This has been a record for me.

A second year student decided it woud be fun to break a bottle of beer and spill it all over my bag and sweatshirt. Yummy.

I had the most amazing night! Mingled with second year students and made friends with first year. Everyone is so friendly, inviting and easy going! I'm more excited about my program now. Second year students are happy to talk to us and relate their internship experiences, class advice and professor gossip.

The bbq came to an end and some people grabbed a couple of bottles of wine that were left over from the bbq and were heading to the nearby beach. Yes, there is a beach (a couple beside UBC). And another group was going to a pub. I would soooooooooo be there! You know I don't pass up a party, especially when I haven't done it yet, but I've been battleling a headache all day. I didn't eat much this morning. First day of school nerves. No matter what I did, the headache didn't go away. And I thought wine would help!

After talking to the girl who did her internship in New York, I am even more set on New York than London. Sure, London has a huge publishing industry and I actually know independent magazines out there, but New York is also the heart of publishing.

I made a couple of good contacts today and found out from the rocker dude of the program where all the hip concerts and clubs are. He's playing at a club this weekend and maybe I'll venture out there alone. No one knows me here. I have freedom to go out alone and not be criticised! I am not afraid to be alone in this amazing city.

Tomorrow...mom leaves. I have a free day from school. Thursday and Friday -- classes.

Again, NYC! NYC! Come visit during Christmas. I should still be here. You won't want to do your internship anywhere else after that, I assure you. :)
