G in the V

This has been one really hectic and tiring week.

Day 1
G arrived in Vancouver on Monday night. I was studying for an exam and couldn't give him any attention. At 10 p.m. I decided that if I don't know the material now, I will never know it.

I was reluctant with having him here. We left on rather bad terms in August and I wasn't looking forward to seeing him here. But, once here, couldn't throw the guy out - right.

Day 2
G went to the J school with me. I went to write my exam (which I think went ok. I know for sure I got one question wrong. The one question no one knew the answer to) and he stayed in my office writing.

Then we tried to find the infamous vegetarian restaurant on 4th Avenue, but passed it and ended up going downtown to a sushi restaurant. We sat at the sushi bar and picked various plates of rolls from the moving boats. The movement made me ill or maybe it was the sushi or maybe it was both. Either way, I suffered all evening. I burned my hand on oil at this point while making dinner for him. More pain. He had to run out and get me aloe lotion.

Evening of day 2
Went to Granville Island at night. Saw downtown from my side of the ocean and then had an amazing evening at home. I bought an amazing green tea - I have a tea place just around here and the selection is endless. We ended up having tea, followed by wine followed by martinis while watching movies. We were up till 7 a.m. talking! It was greatly needed.

Day 3
G decides to post-pone his flight. He changes it to Friday. We don't do much today. I have school work that needs doing - another assignment and he just has a lazy day - after all - vacation is a vacation.

Day 4
An all day newsroom day for me. I was mentally exhausted by the time I got home, but since this was his last night in Van city, I decided we better go downtown. We were both craving an ice cream sundae, instead we opted for chocolate cake. I had yet another assignment due the next day.

Day 5
G leaves. He's all sad and I'm running out the door. Can't be late again for class.

Good things happened today. The news assignment that I was really stressing about, well, it turns out it was one of the best in the class - highest mark I believe. The prof photocopied it and gave it as an example to everyone. It still needs work, of course. I will re-write it. Tighten up my language and try to submit it for publication.

It is the evening of Day 5 and I need to nap or crash and don't get up for days. Instead, going out to see Marie Antoinette (the movie).

Exhausted.
