Salt and Pepper

Who says Friday the 13th is a bad luck day?

Went out with the girls to Provence Marinaside a restaurant in Yaletown overlooking the marina as part of the Taste of Yaletown festival. This was going to be a fancy restaurant and we haven't had any chances of getting all dressed up. This was it.

The night started off with drinks at my place. Yaletown is not far from my place. Just over the Cambie bridge. We started with red wine and we all know how red wine gives you the infamous migraine the next day - a Merlot.

Of course we left my place fashionably late and needed to catch a cab. No problem.

Arrived at the fancy restaurant. Had our coats taken. We were handed the wine list and ordered a bottle of red wine. The cheapest on the menu - it was only $34.

The menu was fixed. $25 for an appetizer (choice of 20), a main course (choice of three) and a dessert (choice from the dessert menu). We ordered four different appetizers: Zucchini Roulade, Risotto Balls, Bocconcini and Tomato and Grilled Eggplant. For the main dish I had Filets de Sardines au Four with mashed potatoes and caponato vegetables. And cheesecake for dessert.
And another bottle of wine.

Afterwards we wanted to go to a bar/lounge called Section (3) because they were having $5.99 martini's on a Friday night. It was very Yorkville-like. I was in search of the Investment Banker -- the ongoing Toronto joke that translates really well to Vancouver. Very posh. The men and women all dressed classy. I ordered the martini's. We stood around the bar for a little bit then found a table to sit down.

But, somewhere hear I looked down at the table and said: The only thing I don't have in my apartment is a salt and pepper shaker. The gals insisted I take it. Now, that doesn't seem like an Anna-thing-to-do.

We left. Wanted to find another bar. Once out the door and across the street, Catherine pulls out the salt and pepper shaker from her purse and says: in return for the martini you bought. I had a clutch! I couldn't fit those into my bag. Yikes.

I couldn't stop laughing.

We ended up walking to the bar-club scene on Granville Street and realized we didn't want to wait in any lines with 19 year olds. Plus, I was creeped out by this guy who tried to pick me up while the girls were all snickering and laughing at the situation. *Shivers*

We ended the night after a bit of walking.

I am still smiling! I had a fabulous time. We are all going out on Tuesday night - how convenient - the night G is here.

Now, I better finish laundry and open the law textbook. *Dreads*
