Insomnia

I haven't been sleeping. It's now into third week of sleepless nights.
Am I anxious? Am I stressed? Do I have too much on my mind? Probably. I just know I get a couple of hours every night of deep sleep. The rest is me being completely wide awake fighting with my mind to stop thinking.

I've tried almost every method at falling asleep - except for the pills.

J recommended I try reading a book he's been turning to lately: The Power of Positive Thinking.

Chapter 2: A Peaceful Mind Generates Power.
According to this chapter, I have two choices. Go to bed with "an ear full of trouble" or "a mind full of peace." To obtain this peace, the author recommends reading the Bible. Now, that's not going to happen any time soon. The Bible is supposed to be this source of calming knowledge. It's supposed to give you some peace.

The Bible in this case is also an example that illustrates some really good points. If I can find a different source, like this book, to read before I go to bed that fills my mind with peace, then I can obtain the same state.

The author makes some good points, but unfortunately illustrates them with "read the Bible!"

Here are some steps to obtaining the peaceful mind.
1. taking a relaxed attitude
2. practice emptying the mind
3. during the day, practice thinking of carefully selected series of peaceful thoughts
4. practice the technique of suggestive articulation, that is repeat peaceful words (helpful to use lines from poetry)
5. conversation - how you intarct with people before you go to bed (Never go to bed angry)
6. start each day with a positive affirmation (this reminds me of Sex & the City when Charlotte practices her daily affirmations)
7. daily practice of silence

I must say, I did try number 4 right after I finished reading the chapter, and every thought ended in my head. I fell asleep and slept for 8 hours.

Did I try the same technique the next night? Hell yah! Did it work? Hell no!

Maybe, each night a different technique. Maybe you can't repeat the techniques.

Maybe I should just take a couple of sleeping pills and just not wake up.
