Mad Dash

It's survival of the fittest. It's the race between the tortoise and the hare and may the strongest person (animal?) win.

It's the beginning of what I'd like to call - a week from hell. I want to close my eyes and wake up to next weekend. Only 17 days (not counting tonight) till my flight and I'm running out of energy.

After all, it cannot all be just work and no play. There needs to be play and on Friday there was a birthday celebration (too bad Borat was sold out - one theatre in Vancouver is playing it! That would never happen in Toronto) followed by what I remember as a lot of alcohol. We are all journalists and headed on the right path to alcoholism.

I was supposed to write my law paper on Saturday. J, an old co-worker came out to B.C. to visit a gal friend and wanted to see me. I was falling asleep at 9:00 p.m. and made coffee! Ended up at the Railway Club - always wanted to go there - and to our surprise a band from Toronto was playing. It was good to see a familiar face.

Whenever I get a visitor it feels odd welcoming them to my new city. I find it to be an invasion of my private space. They are seeing my lifestyle and it makes me feel uncomfortable.

So, Sunday was my mad dash for the finish line: law essay, research assignment and there are still two others I should do tonight but I can't keep staring at the computer screen. Oh, and the infamous multimedia assignment: the article for online! There is no time to do it. There is no time to finish the multimedia component. There will be no time to sleep.
