Perogies
It's been a while since I had perogies and you know I can't eat the potato and cheese ones. I am a spoiled brat who likes hers with meat or fruit. Ok, so I can't make the meat ones because I have no grinder that would combine the ingredients evenly, so fruit it is.
Found out mother's secret recipe. Of course it went something like this. Flour - you'll know how much by looking at it. Add some water. How much water? You'll know when to stop.
What is this - an instinct every Polish person is born with - you just know when you make the right perogy dough.
I must say - I surprised myself. I think I recreated my mother's dough. And all of you who have tasted my mother's perogies, you know how amazing they are. I used strawberries and had a great perogy feast.

It's not the same a Polish Perogies, but the Ukrainian Community Center on Main and 10th serves a great feast on teh first friday of each month..
See my post on it from our old skool blog http://raincitystudios.blogspot.com/2005/05/ukrainian-feast-must-for-food-lovers.html
(now debunk and without pictures..)
You're welcome to join us next time we go in December..
Sounds absolutely fantastic! Another way to get to know this city and Ukrainian isn't so far removed from Polish - tastes quite the same.
