Vancouver is all about recycling - this includes bottle returns. You pay a bottle deposit when you purchase anything in a bottle (plastic or glass), cans and jugs.
I returned my very first two bottles and got 20 cents back.
It was quite an experience. I was so excited to do it and probably looked like a foreigner. I'm not thrilled about returning all the bottles - it requires lots of time. Luckily, the owners volunteered to do it for me. Just leave the bottles in a bag beside the recycling box and they will do it. Yay.
